MATOSINHOS (2015 U16 European Championship Women) - Heading into the last day of the Second Round at the U16 European Championship Women there are just two precious tickets left to take for Friday's Quarter-Finals in Matosinhos.
France and Hungary remain unbeaten in the competition with five victories each and both will fight it out against each other to take pole position in Group F.
The Hungarians defeated Germany 71-48 as Reka Lelik brought her best game with a nice stat line that included 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
France endured an up and down clash against Spain but won another tense encounter by picking up a 52-49 derby success.
Belgium are no longer in contention for a place in the Last Eight after they were soundly beaten 66-42 by Latvia who were propelled by 17 points from Janeta Rozentale and 16 from her team-mate Aleksa Gulbe. Latvia now face Germany in what is effectively a straight winner-takes-all match-up.
It is a similar story in Group E where host nation Portugal will tussle with Turkey for what will be the very last Quarter-Final spot. The hosts were beaten 48-42 by Italy as both teams struggled to find their range.
Turkey condemned Slovak Republic to the Classification Round and put themselves in with a great opportunity of progressing after a 69-65 success which was built on a terrific 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals performance by Meltem Yildizhan.
Unbeaten along with Italy and vying to finish at the summit of the Group are defending champions Russia, who eased to a 73-61 win against Czech Republic as Kamilla Ogun amassed a 20-point haul. The Czechs still advance despite losing.
In the Classification Games earlier in the day, Serbia took a first victory in the championship by moving past Netherlands 67-58 and Croatia made it two successes in a row by making light work of England in a 54-30 win.
