The Osaka Evessa won the 2006 title and the Niigata Albirex were runner ups with their lost in the league championship.
Next season, two new expansion franchises, the Toyama Grouses and Takamatsu Five Arrows will join the 6 team league, making it to eight.
The JBL, which includes the JBL Super League and Japan League will also be reconfigured for the 2006-2007 Season.
Fukuoka drops out of the Super League due to management difficulties and will consists of seven teams. However, with the league professionalizing in 2008, there are expectations to add new franchises.
The biggest reconfiguration for the 2007 season will consist of the addition of two new teams in the second division Japan League. The Toyota Gousei Scorpions and Kuroda Electric Blitz Spririts.
The Chiba Pierce Arrow Badgers will join the Super League for the 2008 season.
