MEXICO CITY (2015 FIBA Americas Championship) - "The brothers are united because that is the first law. They have a true union at any time, because if they fight among themselves the outsiders will devour," wrote Argentinian Jose Hernandez in his book Martin Fierro.

No doubt that this paragraph describes perfectly the Vargas brothers, Jose and Gregory, who are part of the Venezuela's team competing at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.

Since 22 February 2012, when they first played together professionally, they have won three titles with Venezuelan side Marinos de Anzoategui, have been crowned South American champions and seem to be chasing the dream which Gregory, the younger brother, sums up the following way: "We want a dynasty, like the one the Lairet brothers [Cruz, Luis and Rodolfo] created [with Guaiqueries de Margarita]."

Gregory, 29, was the MVP in the last final of the Venezuelan league and this upcoming season will play for Maccabi Haifa of Israel.

Jose is the oldest of the "Dynasty". At 33, he is the captain of Marinos and of his country's national team.

"We have a special relationship because he considers me as a parent and him as the older child. We have very few fights, because we respect each other very much," he said.

On social media, the pair can often be seen displaying the close bond they have.

"Our relationship is special, [we're] always training together and in the future we want to create a group of 'Team Vargas' to work with kids and do sports clinics. That's why we want to be called that," Jose explained.

"We always dreamed about being on the national team together. [Winning] The South American [Championship] was the best thing that could happen to us. Going to the Olympics or a World Cup is our greatest desire."

Gregory added: "Gradually we were fulfilling the objectives, first to play professionally, then being champions with our club, then the South American title came with the national team and now we want to take the next step, to be in the next Olympic Games. That would be an honour for us."
