MAHE (FIBA Africa Zone 7 Championship) – A decent performer at the recent FIBA Africa 3X3 Cup, American-born Togo player Jimmy Williams has set sail to Seychelles, where he will play with local club Beau Vallon heat in the upcoming FIBA Africa Zone 7 Championships, December 5-11.

With high hopes, those of winning gold and making it to FIBA Africa Men’s Champions Cup, the Togolose flag-bearer has already set out to work with his new team-mates.

Though it seems that the move may have been unthinked, he literally contradicts the story. “I have been speaking to Olivier Bastienne, Beau Vallon Heat’s boss, who has told me about his goals and objectives”, remembers Jimmy Williams.

Goals include winning the FIBA Africa Zone 7 Championship and getting to the next level at the FIBA Africa Men’s Champions Cup. “The main thing that attracted me here was the zonal club championship.”

And apart from sea and sun, he met with a professional structure, with defined goals that helped him make up his mind. “It was pretty easy to move there. I have played in Africa for eight years and Beau Vallon Heat presented a nice challenge”, adds the 6,5 ft tall combo guard.

Above all, Seychelles seem to be a good choice for the 32 year-old player, who has been across the continent and showcasing his skills in Middle East for some time.

Motivation will come his way, he says, as his newfound club will be playing in front of their fans. “Winning for and with the crowd is so important.”

Even if he will make his first steps on the Seychelles’ court during the FIBA Africa Zone 7 Championships, he is still looking forward to more with Beau Vallon Heat. Local championship and trophies will be major targets while he resides in the archipelago.

“I have not seen the league here. So I don’t know much. But I know what I want to do next.”

Meaning he’s planning to stay in Seychelles for a while. “The boss wants me stay around after the Zone 7 Championship. We’ll wait and see what comes next.”
