ITA - Venezuela star Romero shines for Scafati

ROME (Lega A) - Hector Romero had some bright moments at the FIBA Americas Championship this summer for Venezuela, including a 35-point, 11-rebound effort in an 88-69 victory over Uruguay.

Now the 2.02m power forward looks set to make a big impact with Lega Scafati in Italy's top flight.

Romero had 16 points and 13 rebounds on Wednesday to lead Teo Alibegovic's team to an 80-73 triumph over Upim Bologna.

The success was the second in three games for the Gialloblu, who won their opener against Scavolini Spar Pesaro but lost their second contest at Tisettanta Cantù.

Dimitri Lauwers made four of five shots from three-point range and had a game-high 22 points for Scafati.

The setback was the first for Fortitudo, who won at home over Siviglia Wear Teramo and on the road at Premiata Montegranaro in their first two games.
In Wednesday's other Lega A game, Teramo left it late but upset Armani Jeans Milano 84-80.

Milano's Travis Watson tied the game at 80-80 inside the final minute but Roger Powell went to the line and made a pair of free throws for Teramo.

The hosts then tried to move back in front with their long-range shooting but failed.

Dusan Vukcevic, who moved to Milano in the close season with former Virtus Bologna coach Zare Markovski, twice missed with shots from the arc and both Cheyne Gadson and Reece Gaines were also off target from three-point range.

Casey Shaw fouled Georgia international Nikoloz Tskitishvili, who added two more shots from the charity stripe as Teramo won by four.
