MILAN (Lega A) - Armani Jeans Milano moved within a victory of playing in the Lega A play-off finals after defeating Angelico Biella 75-70 in Game 3 of their last-four showdown on Tuesday.
Maurice Taylor, the former NBA center, hit the go-ahead basket with less than four minutes remaining to make it 67-65 in favour of Milano before Mike Hall drilled a three-ball to extend the lead to five.
Hall had 19 points and nine rebounds and Taylor scored 17 for the winners.
Greg Brunner had a game-high 23 points, including a nine-of-nine showing at the charity stripe, for Biella who will attempt to level the series when they host Game 4 on Thursday.
Milan are one of Italy’s most famous teams but the city hasn’t celebrated a Lega A title since 1996. That year, Stefanel Milano won the league and the Coppa Italia.
Montepaschi Siena hold a 2-0 advantage over Benetton Treviso in the other semi-final with that Game 3 to be played in Treviso on Friday.
Siena, who beat Virtus Bologna in the Coppa Italia final this season, have won the last two Lega A titles.
