MILAN (Lega A) - Zare Markovski has been appointed the new coach of Armani Jeans Milano.
The tactician, who hails from FYR Macedonia, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and will succeed Sasha Djordjevic.
A club statement read: "Olimpia Armani Jeans Milano announces that it has reached a two-year agreement with Macedonian coach Zare Markovski."
Markovski and Virtus were the nearly men of 2006-07, finishing runners-up in both the Coppa Italia and the Italian Lega A play-off finals.
The club also reached the EuroCup Final Four in Girona, but suffered a last-second defeat to Azovmash Mariupol when Brett Blizzard could only hit the rim from the free throw line.
The 46-year-old parted company with Virtus last week and had been looking to remain in the Italian Lega A.
Djordevic's departure from Milano had been widely expected after the Serbian revealed the club did not want to retain his services.
Unicaja Malaga coach Sergio Scariolo was reportedly the number one target to replace Djordjevic, but Milano failed to reach an agreement with the Italian manager.
