ITA - Italy's Bargnani on road to recovery for Raptors

TORONTO (NBA) - Italy sensation Andrea Bargnani is well on the way to recovery after having an appendectomy last week in Toronto. The Raptors star, a seven-footer whom Azzurri coach Carlo Recalcati has confirmed will be named for this summer's EuroBasket squad in Spain, is hoping to return to the court before the end of the regular season in the NBA. "The important thing is that I fully recover," said the 21-year-old.

"My condition is improving day-by-day and it's just a question of time. We will see how it goes without rushing."

Bargnani feels fortunate when comparing his situation to that of Toronto team-mate and fellow rookie, Jorge Garbajosa.

The Spain international suffered a season-ending ankle injury this week in a game against Boston and is now doubtful for the EuroBasket.

"I feel very fortunate," said Bargnani. "I only had my appendix out while Garbajosa has a serious injury."
