BIELLA (Lega A) - Angelico Biella are facing a dogfight for the rest of the season as they attempt to avoid relegation and with that in mind, the club has signed forward Laurence Olufemi Ekperigin.

The 23-year-old Ekperigin played college basketball at NCAA Division 2 Le Moyne and caught the eye of Biella last year when he played for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League.

Alessandro Giuliani, the general manager of Biella, said: "We had been tracking Ekperigin because of his aggression, his competitive ferocity in the paint, after seeing him in the Summer League.

"He's a player that, despite his 2.02cm (in height),  loves to fight inside the area, going for rebounds and doing the dirty work."

The New York-born Ekperigin has a British passport and could, therefore, be a potential national team player for Chris Finch’s team.

Biella are just a half-game clear of second-bottom Enel Brindisi in Lega A.
