Dalibor Bagaric led the way with 16 points, while Yakhouba Diawara (15 points), Marco Belinelli (12) and Nate Green (11) also made double-figures for the hosts who led 36-22 at half-time but found themselves 47-46 down going into the fourth quarter.
Ramunas Siskauskas was the night's top scorer with 22 points for Benetton but he and team-mates Andrea Bargnani (16 points) and Drew Nicholas (13) were unable to to inspire their team to what would have been a title-clinching victory.
They will get another chance - this time in front of their own fans - on Tuesday.
