TORONTO (NBA) - The Toronto Raptors on Thursday signed two-time Euroleague MVP Anthony Parker to a multi-year contract.
A swingman, the 6ft 6in, 210-pound Parker has experience of playing at the Air Canada Centre after making the winning basket last October to lead Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv to a stunning 105-103 victory over the Raptors in a pre-season contest.
Parker had 24 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the contest.
Parker, 31, spent three seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic before joining Maccabi for the 2000-01 campaign.
He led the squad to five Israeli championships, five Israeli National Cups, three Euroleague championships and a Suproleague title.
He also spent the 2002-03 season with Virtus Roma in Italy - the lone season between 2000-06 that Maccabi failed to win either the Israeli title or Cup.
"Anthony is a high character and experienced player that has proven over several years now that he belongs in the NBA," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said.
"His addition adds great scoring punch to our line-up of guards and another veteran presence for this young team."
