    Iran - Iran qualifies for FIBA Asia Championship

    Iran’s basketball team advanced to the 25th edition of the FIBA Asia Championship for Men. Iraq and Syria have withdrawn from the West Asia qualifying tournament, which was scheduled for June 8 to 12 in Tehran’s Azadi Basketball Hall, and Iran along with Lebanon have automatically advanced to the competitions.

    Iran’s basketball team advanced to the 25th edition of the FIBA Asia Championship for Men.

    Iraq and Syria have withdrawn from the West Asia qualifying tournament, which was scheduled for June 8 to 12 in Tehran’s Azadi Basketball Hall, and Iran along with Lebanon have automatically advanced to the competitions.

    The 2009 FIBA Asia Championship will be held in Tianjin, China, from August 6 to 16 with 16 teams participating. The championship is the qualifying tournament for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

    Iran won its first championship in the previous edition which was held in Tokushima, Japan,from July 28 to August 5, 2007
