NEW DELHI (2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men and Women) - The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has released a list of 25 players for both the men's and women's teams iahead of this summer's FIBA Asia Championships later this year.
The first camp for the preliminary squads will take place at the Indira Gandhi Sporting Complex in New Delhi from 20 May.
The men’s National Team will first play the FIBA Asia Middle Asia sub zone qualifying tournament scheduled in New Delhi for mid-July in a bid to book their place at the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship to be held in Wuhan, China from 15-25 September.
The women's team has already qualified for the FIBA Asia Championship for Women to be held in Omura-Nagasaki from 21-28 August.
Foreign coaches
The coaches for the teams are yet to be named, but the federation has revealed that it was very close to finalizing their appointments.
“We are interviewing a couple of candidates. We should arrive at a decision by next week,” BIF's Harish Sharma said.
Sharma also confirmed that foreign coaches will handle both the men and women teams.
