MIES (Switzerland) - It's your first home in Europe, the place that gives you unprecedented opportunities, even starting from the third division. You stay there for four years, and when you come back, you bring a special present.
That's what happened to Joventut Badalona's Cameron Hunt in Wurzburg, protagonist of one of the most bittersweet stories of Season X in the Basketball Champions League, powered by Ameresco SUNEL.
Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets 83-85 Joventut Badalona
It had just to be him. Coming back to face Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets after playing there also in the third division, cementing his legacy from 2019 to 2023, Cameron Hunt decided the game for Joventut.
The American guard brought the ball up the court and dribbled his way to the basket, sinking the floater to win it all at 85-83 in Germany, beating both the buzzer and the hosts.
Helping Joventut secure their 9th win in a row in Season X, the club's first season in the BCL, Hunt contributed with 18 points and 4 rebounds - his return to Wurzburg was marked by a sweet welcome and a fitting ending.
Ricky Rubio's leadership continues to have an impact on the Catalan side's unbeaten run in 2025-26, as he finished with 13 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Michael Ruzic added 15 points for the win.
Obviously, I didn't expect to hit a game-winner here, but you know, it happens. It was for sure a special night for me. Spending so much time here, meeting so many people, so it felt good for sure.
As it has already happened this season, Wurzburg's trio, composed of Marcus Carr (19 points and 9 assists), Davion Mintz (18 points over 3-of-5 from deep), and Brae Ivey (15 points), still had concrete performances despite the loss.
Already at 3-0 in their BCL Round of 16, Joventut will now have to deal with Elan Chalon on February 10 at 20:00 CET; Wurzburg, meanwhile, will seek their first victory at home against Unicaja on February 11 at 19:00 CET.
Unicaja 111-82 Elan Chalon
While the first game of Tuesday night in Group K was characterized by a balanced matchup, decided only by a game-winning shot by Cameron Hunt, Unicaja had an easy night against Elan Chalon.
With a thunderstorm occurring outside the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena, Ibon Navarro's team made it rain in front of their fans, shooting 62.5 percent from three (15-of-24), and winning 111-82 in Malaga.
Kendrick Perry concluded his winning night by shooting 7-of-8 from the field, finishing with 17 points and 4 assists. Unicaja's leader was crucial to reaching the club's 19th win in a row at home.
"It was a good game for us. Working on our principles, offensively, defensively, we did a really good job focusing a little bit better in the second half, especially defensively. Keying in on certain schemes that we needed. Overall, it was real quality win for us tonight," Perry said.
Nihad Dedovic followed with a 15-point effort, ending at 4-of-5 from the field and 5-of-6 at the charity stripe. Aleksander Balcerowski added 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds for Unicaja.
This was also Justin Cobbs' first game with Unicaja after starting the season with Mersin Sports Club. He finished with 2 points, attempting only three shots from the field, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Overall, Chalon had a decent 9-of-22 night from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough. Jeremiah Hill had an 18-point losing effort with 3-of-8 from the perimeter, but he couldn't avoid another loss in Spain for his team.
Tofas Bursa 90-93 AEK BC
There's a reason why we call AEK BC the Queen of comebacks in the BCL. Tuesday's matchup on the road against Tofas Bursa was another proof of the Greek powerhouse's capacity to stay in contention until the end.
The Turkish side thought they were close to upsetting the Greeks when up by 11 points (65-54) at the start of the third quarter, but AEK struck again, forcing overtime with a 23-12 run following a RaiQuan Gray's jumpshot.
In overtime, Lukas Lekavicius and Vasilis Charalampopoulos combined for three straight three-pointers, while Tofas couldn't get back in time. AEK won 93-90 away from home and remain undefeated in Group J.
Gray was AEK's absolute leader in Türkiye, playing 41:54 minutes to conclude the game with clutch buckets and authority. He finished with 23 points over 10-of-15 from the field, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
"We knew that Tofas was gonna play us tough, especially in a road game for us. I'm glad we came up with the win. We showed some good character, made some big shots, and we stepped up when we needed to," he said.
Following his 21-point night over 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, Frank Bartley IV has now scored 20+ points in five of his last seven BCL games. Entering this game on a perfect 12-of-12 run in free throws, he went 3-of-4 in Bursa.
Despite the loss, Marek Blazevic (16 points and 13 rebounds) and Alex Perez (17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists) still delivered for Tofas.
AEK will now try to extend their winning streak to four consecutive games against Karditsa Iaponiki on the road on February 10 at 18:30 CET. On the same day, at 20:00 CET, ALBA BERLIN will host Tofas.
Group J action will be featured this week again, as ALBA will host Karditsa on Wednesday at 20:00 CET.
