MISKOLC (Hungary) - Hungary completed a perfect week of basketball on Sunday evening by beating Serbia 71-44 in the Final of the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket, Division B 2025.
Both teams had already secured promotion to Division A by virtue of their Semi-Final wins on Saturday, but there was still the prestige of silverware to fight for.
After a tight first half that saw neither team able to gain much separation, Hungary seized the advantage with a 17-11 third quarter, and blew the game wide open in the fourth with a dominant 33-point showing, while limiting Serbia to just 13 in return.
Petra Toman led the hosts with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Jovana Jevtovic put in a standout performance for Serbia; tallying 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.
The battle for the last promotion spot, which took place in their Third Place Game between Croatia and Bulgaria, was a much tighter affair.
Both teams traded buckets throughout in a pulsating contest that saw 21 lead changes and a biggest lead of just 10 points. Yet it was Croatia, who managed to extend to a 5-point lead in the final 2 minutes, that converted when it counted most, holding off Bulgaria for a 82-78 win and with it a ticket to next year's Division A.
Olivia Vukosa was unstoppable for the winners, pouring in a ridiculous double-doulbe with 35 points, 22 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Bulgaria had five players finish in double-figures, led by Gergana Madankova's 17, but it wasn't enough to get them the win.
