    Short Read
Huan Sinan was a wall for Canada attackers

Huan Sinan blocked 8 shots against Canada to move into a tie for the second-most swats in a single game.

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Huan Sinan became just the fifth player in the last 30 years to block at least eight shots in a FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup game after dominating the paint against Canada in their opening game of the 2025 edition.

Huan collected six of the blocks in the first half alone and then added the other two after the break of a 80-72 loss in Group B. He also had 6 points and 5 rebounds in the game.

The official record for most blocks is nine - done three times by two players. Jaber Rouzbahani of Iran was the first to accomplish that against Malaysia in 2003.

China big man Qi Zhou twice had 9 blocks during the 2013 edition. Qi also blocked eight shots in 2013, which was also done by Venezuelan Miguel Marriaga in 2003. Victor Wembanyama had eight blocks three times in 2021.

Blocks have been officially recorded in the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup from 2003 onwards. It has been documented that Efthymios Rentzias had 10 blocks - as part of a triple-double with 33 points and 21 rebounds in Greece’s win over Australia in the FIBA U19 World Cup 1995 Final.
