How do teams from the Americas qualify for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026?

Here’s how the qualification system works.

MIAMI (United States) – Starting this year, the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will serve as a qualifying tournament for both the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 and the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, which will take place in March of next year. This change adds even greater significance to the premier women’s national team competition in the Americas, with teams now competing not only for continental glory but also for a place on the global stage. The team that wins the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 will qualify directly for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 and will also participate in the World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, along with the teams that finish second through sixth in the final standings. In total, the Americas will have six representatives in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, scheduled for March 2026.
