EDMONTON (Canada) - The FIBA 3x3 Women's Series journeys to North America for the one and only time in 2025, making the Edmonton Stop on August 1-2 extra special.
Let's preview all the action of the 11th stop on this season's Women's Series.
The Favorites
We just have to start with host Canada, who enter as the No.1 seed and a whole lot of fan support. The powerhouse have only been sighted twice on the Women's Series this season and will be out to make up for lost time.
Canada will enter in form having claimed the bronze medal at the World Cup, where Saicha Grant-Allen was a walking bucket.
Paris Olympic gold medalist Germany have transitioned well into a new era with two semi-final appearances and they've unearthed a bright new star. Laura Zolper, remember the name! The outrageous depth of talent of the Netherlands will once again be on show with their U25 team entering as the No.3 seed. It hasn't been the easiest season for them so far having failed to reach Day Two twice from three Stops and their hopes of a deep run might rest with emerging star Zoe Slagter.
American teams don't have to travel far, with Seattle 3XBA (USA) and Spokane 3XBA (USA) raring to go and they will be legit title threats.
The Field
A blockbuster looms in Pool D between Chile and France, with both teams more than capable of going on heaters. Former World Cup winners France haven't had the strongest season, but did issue a reminder of their talents with a semi-final finish in Sumgait.
Star Marie Milapie will enter in red-hot form and she will need to be against a Chile team led by excitement machine Fernanda Ovalle.
Puerto Rico have gone cold in recent times, but did make the semis in Amsterdam, where Ashley Torres was completely unstoppable.
The depth of talent of the Puerto Ricans will be on show with Carolina (PUR) looming as a team of significant interest in their WS season debut.
