OAKLAND (NBA) -The star-studded Golden State Warriors jumped into the history books on Tuesday night by becoming the first team to ever start an NBA season with 16 consecutive victories.
With reigning league MVP Stephen Curry pouring in 24 points for Golden State and 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers making just one of 14 shots from the floor, the Warriors cruised to a 111-77 triumph.

The Washington Capitols in the 1948-49 campaign and the Houston Rockets in 1993-94 won 15 games in a row before slipping to their first defeats.
Now the record is owned by Golden State.
"A lot of winners have played in this league, a lot of great teams and nobody has accomplished what this team has tonight, so, we've got to be proud of those kind of moments," Curry said.
"We'll celebrate a little bit and then look forward to Friday night."
Friday is when the Warriors will take aim at a 17th straight win, at the Phoenix Suns.
What Curry and Co have demonstrated is that they are supremely concentrated and confident.
They won against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals several months ago for the team's first title in 40 years and they have not missed a beat since.
"There is no championship hangover for us," Curry said.
"We're trying to get better. We're focused.
"We're staying in the moment.
"We feel like if we come ready to play every night, we should be in good shape.
"There are 66 games left. We've taken care of every objective so far."

Thus far, the Los Angeles Clippers have been the Warriors' toughest opponents.
In the fifth game of the season on 4 November, Golden State prevailed 112-108 at the Oracle Arena over their Pacific Division Rivals and then on 19 November, the Warriors hit back from a 23-point deficit at the Staples Center to beat the Clippers.
The success is leaving the Warriors' fans in a constant state of delirium.
"Dub Nation is the best fan base in the NBA," Curry said.
"To bring some joy to this arena, to the bay area, it's special.
"It's a nice little feeling, we want to keep it going."
There is a strong USA Basketball flavor to the Warriors squad.
Curry has been in the last two world title winning squads, and Klay Thompson was in the United States team that finished top of the podium last year in Spain.
Andre Iguodala, the MVP of Golden State's NBA Finals triumph over Cleveland, played with Curry on the USA's 2010 team and also helped the Americans capture Olympic gold in 2012.
Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green are firmly in contention for places in future national team squads after taking part in this summer's USA Basketball Showcase.
Australia center, Andrew Bogut, is the starting pivot for Golden State.
