Groups drawn for FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027 South American Qualifiers

    The national teams will compete for one of the four available spots to next year's continental tournament in El Salvador.

    MIAMI (United States) – The path has been set for the seven South American national teams that will compete for a place in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027. The official draw for the South American Qualifiers was held on July 14 in Miami, Florida, and the tournament will take place from August 1–9 at Espacio DAM in Zarate, Argentina. Before the draw, the teams were paired into pots according to their position in the FIBA Women's World Ranking, presented by Nike. The draw then determined the group composition and the order of games. The groups are as follows:

    Group A

    1. Colombia 2. Paraguay 3. Uruguay 4. Argentina

    Group B

    1. Chile 2. Venezuela 3. Brazil The tournament will be played under the following competition format:

    • Each team will play one game against every other team in their group

    • The top team in each group will advance directly to the Semi-Finals

    • The fourth-place team in Group A will compete for the fifth through seventh places

    • The second-place teams in each group will face the third-place teams from the opposite group in the Quarter-Finals (2B vs. 3A and 2A vs. 3B). The Quarter-Final winners will advance to the Semi-Finals to face the group winners, while the losing teams will play for fifth through seventh place
