BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Wednesday, August 27, has confirmed the groupings and schedule of the Women's Basketball League Asia (WBL Asia) 2025 set September 23-28.
The groupings and schedule are as follows:
Reigning Women's Chinese Basketball Association champions and hosts Dongguan New Century are in Group A with Cathay Life of Chinese Taipei and 2024-25 Women The League winners Ulaanbaatar Amazons of Mongolia.
Group B, on the other hand, features 2024-25 Women's Japan Basketball League titlists Fujitsu Red Wave, 2024-25 Women's Korean Basketball League champions Busan BNK Sum, and Al Ula Club of Saudi Arabia.
Cathay Life, the 2025 Women's Super Basketball League champs, and Fujitsu are among the pioneering teams of FIBA's flagship event for women's club teams in the continent after playing in the 2024 inaugurals.
The six teams have been divided into two groups according to the FIBA World Ranking for Women, presented by NIKE. Each club is set to compete against the others in a single round-robin format in the Group Phase.
The top two teams from each group will compete in the knockout crossover Semi-Finals, while the teams that will finish third in their groups will play a classification game for the fifth position.
Winners of the Semi-Finals will play for the championship in the one-game Final set September 28. The losing sides, meanwhile, will compete in the Third-Place Game which will be held just before the title bout.
