BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Thursday, August 14, has confirmed the groupings and schedule of the FIBA U16 Women's Asia Cup-Division A set September 13-19 in Seremban, Malaysia.
The groupings and schedule are as follows:
Iran, who finished as runners-up behind the Philippines in the 2023 Division B Final in Jordan, lead Group A that also features 2022 Division B winners Samoa, India, and the comebacking Uzbekistan.
Group B, on the other hand, is composed of host nation Malaysia; former Division A campaigners Indonesia; 2023 Division B Semi-Finalists Hong Kong, China; and Tonga, who is making their competition debut.
The Group Phase will be played from September 13-15, with each gameday featuring four games. Each team will compete against the others in their respective groups in a single round-robin format.
The top teams from each group will advance directly to the Semi-Finals on September 18, while teams finishing second and third in their groups will play in the Qualification to Semi-Finals set September 17
Teams finishing fourth in their groups, on the other hand, will face one another in the Classification 7-8 set September 17 as well. A Classification 5-6 will also be played, just before the Semi-Finals.
The Final, to be preceded by the Third-Place Game, is scheduled on September 19, where the champion team will earn the coveted promotion to Division A of the next FIBA U16 Women's Asia Cup.
