SEATTLE (NBA) - Greek center Andreas Glyniadakis has been waived by the Seattle SuperSonics.
The 25-year-old former Greece youth international signed for Seattle on November 5 last year and played in 13 games, averaging 1.3 points and 0.6 rebounds.
Glyniadakis starred in Europe as a youngster, helping Panathinaikos to four Greek A1 League Championship titles in 1997-98, 98-99, 99-2000 and 2000-01.
He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the final pick of the 2003 draft but found himself trying out for the Atlanta Hawks in the pre-season before being cut.
The Greek spent time in the NBDL with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds while attempting to make it in the United States.
Glyniadakis’ axing means there are only two Greece players in the NBA, rookie guard Vassilis Spanoulis of the Houston Rockets and center Jake Tsakalidis of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, the Sonics are considering sending Senegalese rookie Mouhamed Sene to the NBDL.
Sene, 20, was selected 10th overall last summer but is a raw in his basketball ability and has made only 15 appearances this season with Seattle.
