ATHENS (Euroleague) - If the basketball fans of Greece could have one wish granted before the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Venezuela, there’s little doubt about what it would be.

Most would love for Dimitris Diamantidis to return to the national team.

The veteran is not only the best player in the country, but second to none in Europe.

That was confirmed when the 32-year-old was named as the March/April MVP after leading Panathinaikos into the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four.

Diamantidis has had a lot of wonderful moments in his career.

    He continues to have them.

In the closing seconds of Game 5 of Panathinaikos' quarter-final against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Diamantidis not only sank the go-ahead free-throw but came up with a steal to clinch victory.

Twice a Euroleague Final Four MVP, including last year when he led Pana past Maccabi in the title game in Barcelona, Diamantidis decided to retire from the national team after the FIBA World Championship in 2010 but there is speculation he could return for the OQT.
