    ATHENS (Hellenic Federation) - Greek basketball on Tuesday was mourning the passing of Andreas Miaoulis, the President of the Hellenic Basketball Federation. He was 72.

    Miaoulis, who was suffering from cancer, died yesterday evening in Athens, Greece.

    He had held the highest post of the Greek Federation since 2002.

    "We are deeply moved by the passing of our friend Andreas Miaoulis, who has served basketball in Greece for such a long time," said FIBA Secretary General and IOC member Patrick Baumann.

    "He will be deeply missed.

    "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

    A minute's silence will be held before the Ivory Coast-Greece game to pay tribute to Mr Miaoulis.
