FRANKFURT (BBL) - If DaShaun Wood isn’t in the Deutsche Bank Skyliners’ squad come November 1, be very surprised.

In fact, don’t even think about the possibility that ‘Little Toni’ won’t get an extension with the German club.

His current deal in Frankfurt runs out at the end of the month, but when asked on Sunday if Wood would be around for longer, Skyliners coach Gordon Herbert laughed and said: "I think that's a pretty sure bet."

"Obviously he's probably our best player.”

Wood provided the points, defense and overall leadership to help Deutsche Bank beat Eisbaren Bremerhaven 81-66 on Sunday in the Beko BBL.

The 25-year-old scored 19 points, handed out four assists and came up with three steals against the Polar Bears as Skyliners improved to 2-2.

The visitors played without Donald Copeland, Jermaine Thomas and Steven ester Kamp, and Herbert admitted: "You've got to give Bremerhaven some credit - both point guards were hurt.

"We had 'em down but they never gave up. They kept fighting back.

"They fought back in the second quarter and they kept fighting in the third and fourth quarter.

“You've got to give them a lot of credit.

"I thought when DeShaun Wood was on the floor, he really controlled the tempo of the basketball game and made other people better and also was able to score."

Defending champions Brose Baskets Bamberg improved to 5-0 with a 74-71 triumph at New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig.

Predrag Suput, one of the stars in last season’s team, had 17 points for Bamberg while Germany international Tibor Pleiss scored 10 and pulled down seven rebounds.

Gottingen knocked EWE Baskets Oldenburg from the ranks of the unbeaten, winning 80-68.

Oldenburg are now 4-1, the same as Giessen following their 88-81 success against Ulm.

In other games, Walter Tigers Tübingen claimed an 84-76 victory over BBC Bayreuth and Alba Berlin beat EnBW Ludwigsburg 86-60.
