Despite being without centre Tim Unterluggauer - who was out sick - the German youngsters got off to a great start against the big favourites from Turkey. The home side went up 11-8 on Julius Wolf's three pointer and, when he made a lay-up midway through the second quarter, the lead was 23-11, much to the delight of the 600 spectators.
The Turks used a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to 27-21 at half-time and were within three, 47-44, in the final quarter. But the Germans - with Wolf leading by example - kept them at bay by hitting timely baskets to pull away the win much to the delight of the 600 spectators.
