BAMBERG (FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men) – Robert Garrett will travel to Athens in July with Germany’s national team safe in the knowledge that he has a job with Brose Baskets Bamberg for two more years.

The veteran, who will try to help his country earn a place at the Beijing Games via the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, has signed a two-year extension with the BBL club.

"Robse" said he fits in well in the new system of new coach Chris Fleming, the replacement for Dirk Bauermann, who led Bamberg to two league crowns and two other finals appearances before deciding to concentrate on his duties as German national team coach.

"I am happy that it worked out since I feel really welcome here in Bamberg,” Garrett said.

“It's hard to find a better environment as a basketball player. I had a constructive talk with Chris Fleming about my future role in the team.

“He sees me as a scorer off the bench and I am sure I can fill that role just fine."

Garrett, who won one title with Bauermann at Bamberg as well as the silver medal at the 2005 EuroBasket, is 31 years old.

He captured a league title in Frankfurt before arriving in Bamberg in 2005.

This season, he averaged 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
