HAMBURG (2010 FIBA U17 World Championship for Men) - Siggi and Hein are the two mascots of the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship for Men in Hamburg that takes place from July 2nd - July 11th, 2010 in the Sporthalle Hamburg. The two mascots had their first official appearance at the Beko BBL Game Bonn vs. Göttingen in the Telekom Dome Bonn in front of a crowd of 5405 spectators. The two German U17 Players Tim Unterluggauer and Jonathan Malu were interviewed during the half time show.

Siggi and Hein are two eagles, the symbol of the Federal Republic of Germany. Especially for the venue, the Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Siggi and Hein wear maritime outfits. Siggi has been known in the German basketball family for being the official mascot of the senior teams and Hein is a new, younger and smaller addition, especially designed for the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship for Men in Hamburg.

The audience in Bonn loved the two mascots right away and especially the young basketball fans could not get enough of the two fluffy mascots. While Siggi and Hein got in touch with the fans, Tim Unterluggauer and Jonathan Malu were in the center of attention on the court doing their first big live interview. Tim Unterluggauer, Center for Leverkusen, commented on the very important role the mascot and the fans will play at the U17 WCFM in Hamburg. "We are very happy to have our own mascot. I think Hein is very cool! We hope he will be the perfect connection to our fans. We will need the fans to create a little advantage for our team in our challenging group."

If that is up to Jonathan Malu, Player for the NBBL Team Bonn / Rhöndorf, the German Team can make it to the quarter finals. When being asked about his favorite opponent, Malu smiled and said: "I would love to play the US Team because that would mean that we make it to the quarter finals...!" The Bonner crowd certainly liked that statement underlined by the big round of applause Tim and Jonni as well as Siggi and Hein received.
