BERLIN (Bundesliga) - Alba Berlin missed the chance to book their place in the Bundesliga play-off finals as they lost 83-74 at home to Deutsche Bank Skyliners to tie their series at 2-2 on Sunday night.
DaShaun Wood poured in 30 points and Roger Powell 22 to keep the Skyliners alive in the series, which will now be decided on Thursday.
"Many people had already written us off, but we always believed," said Skyliners coach Gordon Herbert. "We had a great start and played great basketball for the first five or six minutes of the second half.
"This is a crazy series. Not once has the home team won."
Alba coach Muli Katzurin was disappointed with his team's showing, but could not begrudge the Skyliners their victory.
"In such an important game, it is difficult to understand how we have let this slip away," he said. "The Skyliners deserved to win because they wanted it more and have fought harder."
The other semi-final is also tied at 2-2 after the Artland Dragons fought back with a 75-59 win over Brose Baskets on Saturday, meaning it will go to Tuesday's decider.
Tyrese Rice poured in 30 points to keep the Dragons alive, and Brose coach Chris Fleming could only admire the former Rutgers guard.
"That was one of the best play-off performances I have seen from a guard," he said. "We were not able to attack the ball well, and our guards made only 21 points together, nine less than Rice.
"You don't see a performance like that very often."
Dragons coach Stefan Koch was delighted with his side and hopes the performance can carry over into Game 5.
"We have a high degree of commitment. willpower and passion," he said. "We need to show this energy and combat readiness again on Tuesday."
