BAMBERG (Beko Bundesliga Basketball) – Deutsche Bank Skyliners drew first blood in the German play-off finals on Sunday night with a nail-biting 65-63 triumph at Brose Baskets Bamberg.

The visitors from Frankfurt prevailed after a basket from Quantez Robertson in the waning seconds.

Bamberg, who swept their first two play-off series against Telekom Baskets Bonn and New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig, lost in front of a sellout crowd of 6,800 after being outscored 19-9 in the last quarter.

Bamberg must now regroup with Game 2 at Frankfurt.

“It's disappointing as we lost the game,” Bamberg coach Chris Fleming said.
“But we have not lost our optimism and therefore will give the answer on Wednesday.”

For the winners, Dragan Labovic had 14 points while Aubrey Reese and Derrick Allen scored 13 apiece.

Gordon Herbert, the Skyliners coach, said: "I like how we fought, but we have to play better basketball.”

“I was very proud that my team never gave up.

“We worked hard and got back into the game."
