BAMBERG (BBL) - The magical run of Brose Baskets Bamberg is showing no signs of dying with the German club claiming another narrow victory over the weekend in the Beko BBL.
Fresh off a 73-61 triumph over Olympiacos in the Euroleague, Bamberg hosted Giessen 46ers and edged them 81-80 to improve to 7-0 in Germany.
Bamberg led 73-55 but the 46ers clawed their way back and trailed 79-77 after a basket by Anthony Smith with 14 seconds to go.
Bamberg's Brian Roberts made two free-throws with five seconds to go before Chase Griffin's three-ball closed the gap to one.
The hosts held on for a narrow win.
Casey Jacobsen and Predrag Suput each poured in 14 points, Karsten Tadda 12 and Kyle Hines 11 for Bamberg, who won their previous two Beko BBL games 74-71 over New Yorker Phantoms and 60-58 over Artland.
Also over the weekend, Alba Berlin managed to force overtime and scraped a 77-75 triumph over EWE Baskets Oldenburg.
In a major blunder, Oldenburg fouled Marko Marinovic when the Serbian was attempting a potential game-tying three-pointer with two seconds to go at the end of regulation.
Marinovic made all three shots from the stripe to knot the contest and send it to the extra period.
A Derrick Allen basket put the home side in front to stay with 3:35 to go in overtime.
Allen finished with 18 points and Marinovic 17.
