BERLIN (BBL) - Brose Baskets Bamberg rebounded from their poor start to the ULEB Cup by comfortably beating Giessen 46ers 73-59 on the road to collect their fourth straight victory in the German BBL league.

Just two nights after losing 83-59 at home to SLUC Nancy Basket, Bamberg turned on the defensive pressure and took care of the ball in the second half, taking their season's record to 4-1.

Bamberg, who went through a late-night training session directly after the embarrassing Nancy loss, moved up to fifth place in the standings fifth behind 6-0 leaders Ludwigsburg, 6-1 Alba Berlin and Eisbaren Bremerhaven and RheinEnergie Koln, both 5-1.

"Decisive was the second half and the depth and substance of my team and that we were able to reduce the number of turnovers compared to the first half," Bamberg coach Dirk Bauermann said.

K'Zell Wesson led Bamberg with 16 points while Vincent Yarbrough added nine points, nine rebounds and four steals.

DeJuan Collins rebounded from his nine-turnover showing against Nancy with 13 points, four assists and four turnovers.

Bamberg center Darren Fenn continued his recovery from a recent virus by coming off the bench to claim four points in 14 minutes.

Bauermann said he was impressed with Giessen's heart: "It was impressive to see how Giessen, despite personnel problems, wanted to fight back into the game and never gave up.

"But in the end, our individual quality was better."

Giessen played only seven players as they were missing Gerrit Terdenge and Ernest Kalve. Giessen's seventh straight loss to start the season equals them with sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg for the worst record in the league.

Rouven Roessler had 17 points and seven rebounds while Obie Trotter chipped in 13 points and four assists.

The BBL continues on Saturday with four games including leaders Ludwigsburg hosting promoted side ratiopharm Ulm, while RheinEnergie Koln are at sellbytel Baskets Nurnberg.

Sunday's four-game bill is highlighted by Brose Basket Bamberg's home showdown with EWE Baskets Oldenburg.
