ANDORRA LA VELLA (Andorra) - In a dramatic conclusion to the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket 2025 Division C, Georgia narrowly edged Armenia 63–60 to capture their second title in the competition’s history.
The Final was defined by a stunning comeback: after trailing by as many as 18 points in the first half, Armenia stormed back to take a brief lead late in the third quarter. But Georgia showed composure under pressure, executing down the stretch to seal a hard-fought victory.
Unbeaten across all four of their games heading into the championship clash, Georgia had firmly established themselves as the tournament's dominant force—averaging 95.5 points per game and leading all teams with 26.5 steals per outing. That early form was on display again in the first half, as Georgia’s pressure defense disrupted Armenia’s rhythm and their perimeter shooting shredded the zone. They built a double-digit cushion by halftime behind crisp ball movement and a relentless transition attack.
It was a different story in the third quarter however, as Armenia came out on a mission, scoring 22 points while limiting their opponents to just 8 as they flipped the contest on its head. Armenia’s comeback was led by Seda Gabrielyan, who poured in 26 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and collected 6 steals, commanding both the paint and the tempo. Her versatility, combined with timely scoring from Ani Aleksanyan and Varduhi Arshakyan, helped Armenia seize momentum and briefly take the lead late in the third.
But Georgia refused to crumble. Regaining their composure in the fourth quarter, they tightened up defensively and leaned once again on their star forward Salome Svani, who delivered when it mattered most. Svani, who was also named the MVP of the tournament, produced a 26-point, 9-rebound outing in a masterclass of physical dominance and relentless energy, anchoring Georgia on both ends of the floor.
Her poise under pressure and clutch shot-making helped swing the momentum back Georgia’s way, as she calmly guided her team through the tense final minutes to reclaim the lead and hold off Armenia’s final push to seal the title.
Earlier in the day, Malta bounced back from their Semi-Final disappointment to take bronze with a dominant 80-56 win over Albania. Sara Fenech Pace starred once again with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Cyprus secured fifth place in emphatic fashion, cruising past Andorra 79-29 with five players finish in double-figures, with Alexandra Liakopoulou leading the way with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
