GAMBIA (Olympic Solidarity Coaching Clinics) -The Olympic Solidarity Coaching Clinic was held from September 20 to October 3, 2006, under the direction of FIBA Expert M. Bill McCammon (USA).
Many young players helped to ensure the success of this clinic, although there is still a need for coaches’ development, especially in rural areas. The expert recommended that another level 1 clinic should be held as well as a level 2 clinic before summer 2007. This would serve to the further development of the coaching skills and knowledge.
The participants’ enthusiasm and passion for basketball was evident from day 1 and many questions were discussed which created a very positive group dynamic. By keeping the right direction, basketball in Gambia should shortly return to its former.
