ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - On Wednesday, the FIBA Regional Africa Office announced that the full schedule for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket has been finalized.
This announcement follows the tournament draw held on Friday, May 9, in Luanda, Angola.
The 31st AfroBasket edition will take place in Luanda and Namibe, Angola, from August 12-24.
Games in Luanda will be played at the iconic Kilamba Arena, and games in Namibe will be played at the Pavilhão Welwitschia Mirabilis.
Groups A and C will be played in Namibe, and Groups B and D will be played in Luanda.
The 24 group phase games will be split between Luanda and Namibe from August 12-17 before the rest of the competition resumes in Luanda from August 18-24.
Teams were drawn as follows:
Group A: Côte d'Ivoire Cape Verde, DR Congo, Rwanda Group B: Tunisia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Madagascar Group C: Angola, South Sudan, Guinea, Libya Group D: Senegal, Egypt, Mali Uganda
On the opening day of the tournament, Group C will see Angola face Libya and South Sudan go up against Guinea in the southern city of Namibe.
Meanwhile, Group D in Luanda will be the second group to see action on the opening day, with Senegal vs. Uganda and Mali vs. Egypt.
Groups C and D will have a rest day on August 13, while eight other teams will play. Côte d'Ivoire will face Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will face Cape Verde in Group A in Namibe.
In the Group B opener, the reigning AfroBasket champions, Tunisia, will face Cameroon, while Madagascar will take on Nigeria.
Each team will play the other three teams in their group, for a total of three games.
The sixteen participating teams will play a total of twenty-four Group Phase games.
The winners of Groups A, B, C, and D will advance automatically to the quarterfinals, while the teams that finish second and third in their respective groups will advance to a qualification round for the quarterfinals.
The last-placed teams in each group will be eliminated.
The losing teams in the quarterfinal qualification round will be eliminated and ranked according to their win-loss record and point differential.

FIBA
