KIEV (EuroBasket 2015) - Ukraine have decided that Mike Fratello is to remain in charge of the national team for next year's EuroBasket.

The veteran coach, having led the national side since 2011, will attempt to build on the most successful two-year run in national team history.

Under his guidance, Ukraine finished sixth at EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup for the first time.

At the World Cup in Bilbao, Spain, this past summer, Ukraine competed in Group B under Fratello and defeated the Dominican Republic and Turkey - two sides that advanced to the Round of 16 - but failed to progress themselves when they lost out on a tie-breaker with those two sides after they each finished with 2-3 records.

Ukraine suffered defeats to Finland, New Zealand and eventual champions, the United States.

Fratello had indicated a willingness to continue at the helm of Ukraine after the World Cup and on Monday, the council of the country's basketball federation made it official.

A press conference is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Kiev Sports Palace with FBU President Oleksandr Volkov and Secretary General Oleksandr Larin on hand.

Eight days ago, Ukraine were drawn to face Lithuania, hosts Latvia, Estonia, Belgium and the Czech Republic in EuroBasket Group C, in Riga.

The tournament will get underway on 5 September.

Vadim Czeczuro, meanwhile, is to remain as the coach of the Ukraine women.

The 46-year-old has held the reins of Ukraine since the summer of 2012 and has guided the team to the EuroBasket Women 2013 in France and next year's EuroBasket Women in Hungary and Romania.

The Ukraine women will square off against the Czech Republic, Montenegro, France and Group A hosts Romania, with the tournament tipping off 11 June.
