    FRA - Yvan Mainini, named Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur

    PARIS (FFBB) - Yvan Mainini, President of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and Central Board member of FIBA, has been named ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur’ by the President of the French Republic.

    PARIS (FFBB) - Yvan Mainini, President of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and Central Board member of FIBA, has been named ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur’ by the President of the French Republic.

    Mr. Mainini has been awarded this premier order of France in recognition for his 44 years of civil service to his country and for his outstanding contributions to the world of sport.

    Born in Bayeux (Calvados), France, on 26th December 1944, Yvan Mainini’s career in sport is completely linked to the game of basketball, both as a player, as a coach, as a referee (he called over 300 games duing his 15 years as a FIBA international referee) and later on as sports administrator. Mr. Mainini, who is President of the French Basketball Federation since december 1992, was Vice-President of FIBA from 1998 to 2001.
