PARIS (EuroBasket 2007) - France center Frederic Weis will be fit for EuroBasket 2007, despite his recent knee problems.

Weis, a key man in France's bronze-medal win two years ago in Belgrade, has struggled with cartilage trouble in recent seasons and he underwent tests on his knee on Wednesday while his Les Bleus colleagues enjoyed a rest day ahead of this weekend's friendly double-header in Slovenia.

The results were promising for the Bilbao big man, who will return to training with the rest of the squad on Friday.

A statement from the French Basketball Federation read: "He underwent light treatment on Wednesday morning allowing him to retake normal training on Friday.

"His participation in the European Championship is not under threat."

The news will come as some relief to Les Bleus coach Claude Bergeaud, who is likely to pick Weis in his starting five for the EuroBasket.

Guard Cedric Ferchaud should also be back in training on Friday after shrugging off his a right knee injury.

France play Slovenia in friendlies in Maribor on Friday and Sunday.

Their EuroBasket campaign begins on September 3.
