JD Jackson’s team went into a deep freeze in the fourth quarter and suffered a 58-55 home defeat to Le Havre.
The visitors went on a 16-7 run over the final 10 minutes to claim the win.
Le Mans, who will play in the Eurocup this season, lost despite getting 20 points and 13 rebounds from their France international big man Alain Koffi.
They shot just two of 14 (14.3%) from three-point range and seven of 12 (58.3%) at the free-throw line.
