PARIS (FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women) - Valérie Garnier once played for France.

Now, the 46-year-old is going to help coach the national team.

The French Basketball Federation have announced that the 46-year-old has joined the staff of Pierre Vincent and will be with Les Bleues next summer when they attempt to reach the London Games via the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women.

Garnier is in her first season as the coach of Bourges Basket in France’s top flight and the EuroLeague Women.

She replaced Vincent at the helm last summer after he decided to leave his long-time club to coach ASVEL in the men’s league.

France won the bronze medal at this year's EuroBasket Women.
