SAN ANTONIO (NBA) - France point guard Tony Parker is back in practice and expects to play for the San Antonio Spurs this weekend after missing several games with an ankle injury.

Parker, who has averaged a career-high 19.2 points per game this season, hasn't played since a 97-91 defeat at Utah on January 28.

"Following three weeks of rest due to my injury, I am now back at practice," Parker said on his website.

"(Spurs coach) Gregg Popovich postponed the first practice after the All Star Game in New Orleans and we are practicing (Monday) in the early afternoon.

"Regarding my ankle, I feel a lot better but I do not want to rush anything.

"Since I stopped playing, it will be first time that I will practice with the team. I feel like I am not at 100%, thus I prefer to postpone my return to competition.

"I will not be playing against Charlotte and I am still tentative for Thursday's game against Minnesota. I think you will see me on the floor on Saturday when the Hornets come to town."

That should be a good game.

The last time New Orleans visited San Antonio was on January 26, when Parker had 17 points and six assists but the Hornets stung the defending champions 102-78.
