PARIS (EuroBasket/EuroBasket Women) - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
That adage holds true for the France Basketball Federation (FFBB) because on Friday, it announced that Vincent Collet and Pierre Vincent would remain in charge of the men's and women's national teams, respectively, for at least one more summer.
Both coaches had signed on to coach through the London Games but now each has agreed to remain with the teams.
France will host the EuroBasket Women next year.
The FFB’s national teams director and general manager, Jean-Pierre De Vincenzi, said: "(French national teams director) Patrick Beesley and I met with Pierre Vincent and Vincent Collet to debrief (after the Olympics) and plan for the next four years.
"Both are motivated to be a part of a new Olympic project and are fully aligned with the national technical direction.
"However, neither can project over four years now.
"So we decided to start the implementation of the project for the Rio 2016 Games. But we are giving ourselves some time, until after the 2013 EuroBaskets, before taking a decision on what to do for the three years that will follow."
Vincent led France to gold at the EuroBasket Women 2009, bronze at EuroBasket 2011 and silver at this summer's Olympics.
Collet steered the French men into the last two EuroBaskets, the FIBA World Championship and the London Games.
Les Bleus captured a silver medal at EuroBasket 2011 to earn a place at the London Games and they were narrowly beaten by Spain in the Quarter-Finals of the Olympics.
