TEHRAN (Iran) - The first-ever FIBA WABC Level 2 Coaches Course, supported by the Olympic Solidarity program, has been successfully delivered in Iran.

The six-day Coaches Course was conducted at the National Olympic Academy of Iran in Tehran.

WABC (World Association of Basketball Coaches) Level 2 Coaches Courses were launched earlier this year, with this course in Iran the first of its kind worldwide.

Fourteen out of the 15 participants that attended the course in Iran were women, in alignment with FIBA's Women's in Basketball strategic priority and the goal of developing female coaches and officials.

Secretary General of the Basketball Federation Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mohsen Moezifar, said: "The FIBA WABC Level 2 Coaches Course, in conjunction with Olympic Solidarity, in Tehran presents a tremendous opportunity for the coaches' community in Iran.

"This course will empower our coaches with advanced skills and knowledge, enabling them to elevate the standard of basketball coaching in Iran and further contribute to the growth and development of our popular sport."

This particular course was supported by the Olympic Solidarity program. The Olympic Solidarity aims to provide assistance to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) for development programs, especially those with the greatest needs of it.

The Olympic Solidarity program is available to all National Federations and plays an important role in FIBA's strategic priority to Empower National Federations.  National Federations can apply for a TCC (Technical Course for Coaches) through their respective National Olympic Committees.
