RIO DE JANEIRO (Brazil) – Flamengo (BRA) recorded its second victory in Group B of the Basketball Champions League Americas 2025–26, cruising past Obras (ARG) 102-66 in front of its home fans at the Maracanazinho Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Turning point
The reigning BCL Americas champion delivered a spectacular first half, knocking down 12 of 16 three-pointers (75 percent) and shooting 24-of-34 from the field (71 percent) during the opening 20 minutes. That barrage opened up a commanding 62–24 halftime lead and effectively put the game out of reach before the break.
Player of the game
Gui Deodato spearheaded Flamengo’s offense with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. He added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Kayo Manfio also impressed with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals, while Franco Baralle (5 assists), Wesley Ferreira and Matheus Gueiros added 11 points apiece. Flamengo was without reigning Final 4 MVP Alexey Borges. He recently underwent surgery for bone marrow edema in his knee and is expected to be sidelined until March. For Obras, Tyler Sabin and Joaquín López finished with 12 points each. Juan Brussino dished out 7 assists and now has 213 in his BCL Americas career, extending his all-time lead in the category.
Stats don’t lie
Flamengo dominated nearly every facet of the game, but its shooting efficiency stood out the most. While the blistering first-half pace slowed after the break, the hosts maintained control. They finished shooting 61 percent from the field (39-of-64) and 59 percent from three-point range (19-of-32). Defensively, they forced 11 steals.
Obras shot 39 percent from the field (25-of-65), including 9-of-32 from beyond the arc (28 percent). This marked the seventh time Flamengo has scored at least 100 points in BCL Americas play, and they have won on every such occasion. The 66 points scored by Obras were the second-lowest total in the club’s history in the competition.
Bottom line
With Saturday’s win, Flamengo (2–1) moved into first place in Group B, at least temporarily. The Brazilian side will have Sunday off, while Obras (0–3) and Nacional (URU, 2–0) will square off. The Argentine club will need a win to keep its hopes alive.
