Alexandria will once again play host to Egypt.

ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The Competition Department of the FIBA Regional Office for Africa has confirmed that Alexandria, Egypt, will host the first round of Group D of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers.

Cairo and Alexandria were both under consideration, but it is the latter that has been selected.

The first round of the four-team group consisting of Egypt, Angola, Mali, and Uganda will take place at the Borg Al Arab Sports Hall from 26 February to 1 March.

This will be the second time that Egypt has hosted World Cup Qualifier games at the Borg Al Arab Sports Hall, where Egypt achieved a perfect 3–0 record in Window 3 of the 2023 World Cup African Qualifiers in July 2022, against Kenya, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Meanwhile, Senegal will host the first round of Group B in Dakar. They will face the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire and Madagascar.
