    2010 World Championships

    Team Characteristics
Experienced, well coached team that plays to its strengths. Cohesive unit that is fundmentally strong and offensive and defensive ends. Balanced inside/out attack that can score points quickly. Defense is responsible for creating turnovers and quick baskets. Good shooting team that focuses on getting the ball inside. Experience, team work, and competitiveness are reasons for success.

    Offensive Tendencies
Overall goal is to create opportunities to use athletic and scoring ability in the half court. Several looks include X cuts off the post, inside cut by point and on ball screen wing, on ball screen slip, isolation, and penetration. Many plays are made off the dribble. On miss or turnover they push the ball quickly down the floor to score. Aggressive offensive rebounding team.

    Transition
Many baskets come from coast to coast drives or passes ahead of retreating defense. Guards are aggressive and drive down the middle of the floor until stopped. Will get to the basket or pull up for jump shot. Posts run hard down the floor to catch and score or to post up areas. After shot three or four crash the offensive boards.

    Set Plays
    1. Down screen to catch up top, immediate on ball screen and roll.
    2. Down screen on left side, catch up top, down screen on right side to isolation.
    3. Wing entry pass and inside cut to corner. Pass to corner, post back screen and pop
    4. High post entry, fake hand off, double down on left side for open shot.

    Zone Offense
Attack zones with two alignments; 3 out/2 in and 4 out/1 in. Posts work areas between low post, paint, and high post. High post steps out to set on ball screen and roll or step back. Shooters cut along baseline to fill open corners for open shots.

    Defense Tendencies
Help oriented defense with good communication. May switch if necessary but are mainly a solid man to man team. Help side defenders are ready to double or attack the dribbler, especially on spin dribbles. Tall, long posts challenge shots in the lane and block shot often.
