GERMANY
FIBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, SUMMER 2006
OFFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS
Calculated, well schooled team on offense. Know each other's game and play as a cohesive unit.
#14 is the anchor of everything they do. Good athletic ability, but they are successful when they play
within their offense and play together. Blend of quick, penetrating guards and scoring post players.
Mostly a half court attack, but will score some easy baskets on long rebounds. Stay within their game
as a team and as individuals.
TRANSITION

Push the ball up the floor on misses, led by #4 and #9. Both are quick with the ball, can handle in the
open floor and find open teammates. Posts run the floor well on defense also.
OFFENSIVE TENDENCIES

A team very much in control on the offensive end of the floor. Structured yet able to create within the
half court. Patient on offense, good passing team. Everything goes through #14 on offense, and he
can score, pass and rebound. Tend to mix up things using on ball screens, give and go, and post
feeds. They are an excellent cutting team, cutting from any angle on the floor. When the post has the
ball, they cut with hands , expecting to receive the ball back.
SET PLAYS

-
Forward cuts out of
stack to top of key, reverse ball, isolation on ball screen and
roll.

-
Open floor isolation for
#14.

OB plays are purposeful and are designed to get the ball to a specific player in a specific spot on the
floor. They execute their OB's well and can score a high percentage of the time.
DEFENSIVE CHARACTERISTICS

Play both man to man and 2-3 zone defense. Zone is packed in to force the offense to shoot shots
over their defense. Average rebounding team out of the zone. Their man to man is very focused on
helping. All players maintain good vision and are always in a position to help on penetration, with the
ball in the post, or on the boards.
