BRNO (Czechia) - The race to be crowned the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2025 TISSOT MVP is heating up as we head into the crunch Quarter-Finals stage.
Who is set to follow 2023 MVP Iyana Martin of Spain and write themselves into the rich history of this famous and prestiguous competition?
Ahead of the tip-off, we issued the first Volume of the MVP Ladder and now, we're hitting the refresh button to take into account actual performances so far at the event. That means movement for those who have impressed enough to keep a spot in the Top 10 and also some late entries from ballers we have marked as 'new'.
Honorable mention: Gal Raviv - Israel
Before we land on the MVP Ladder for real, it's only right that we give a shout out to the tournament's leading scorer. Gal Raviv came as one of the top prospects to watch and it has been tough to take our eyes off her incredible scoring power that has delivered 23.0 points per game. It helped first-timers Israel make history with a maiden victory, but they were just edged out in the Round of 16 as they tried to claim a Quarter-Finals berth.
10. Otoha Goto - Japan 🆕
Goto has stepped up as the new leader for Japan, after an impressive FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024. Her Round of 16 show against Brazil was one of the best so far in Brno and shot Japan into the top eight. She's the third best scorer in the tournament with 19.8 points per game, plus 7.8 rebounds for an efficiency of 13.5.
9. Avery Howell - Canada 🆕
Howell has been central to Canada's unbeaten start and tilt at the podium. She is second for scoring for her team with 14.3 points per outing and also in efficiency at 17.0 per game. The most impressive part of her displays to date have been her fantastic control and shot selection, which has contributed to her sinking 61% from the floor.
8. Shaila Nde - Spain 🆕
Emphasizing Spain's reliance on their collective teamwork, Nde has not put up huge numbers with just over 8 points and 5 boards per game. but is steadily morphing into a key component as they chase down a medal. She's a relentless worker defensively and has showed great choice when it comes to making moves and taking shots.
7. Bonnie Deas - Australia 🆕
Similarly, Australia have relied heavily on having many different leading contributors on any given night, but it feels like Deas is the player that will emerge to lead them to the podium. She is leading the Gems in efficiency at 14.7 per game and almost averaging a tournament double-double with 10.7 points and 9.3 rebounds - as well as 3.0 assists.
6. Clara Silva - Portugal 🆕
Silva has been awesome and it's went perfectly to script. Portugal's marquee baller has helped them win their first ever game, then catapulted them to the Quarter-Finals with that monster 43 efficiency. Second in the tournament for scoring with 22.8 points and in efficiency at 26.0, she's also the best rebounder in Brno with 10.8 per outing.
5. Saniyah Hall - USA🆕
A revelation and even more exciting because she is also eligible to play in 2027, Hall has been absolutely outstanding. Her quick hands and reading of the game see her leading the competition in steals with 3.8 per game. She is also USA's second leading scorer with 18.0 points per game and in rebounding with 6.5 per outing.
4. Nell Angloma - France ⬇️2️⃣
While it's a downwards movement of two places, it's only reflective of France facing favorites USA in the Quarter-Finals. The player herself has impressed with her physicality, aggression and skills - all of which have helped her lead France in efficiency at 18.0, scoring with 17.7 points and she's also added 5.3 boards and 2.3 assists per game.
3. Syla Swords - Canada ⏸️
The Paris 2024 Olympian landed in Brno after helping Canada win bronze at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2025. Her leadership has been at the heart of this campaign. Superb in many elements, she leads her side in scoring with 16.5 points per game, efficiency at 18.3 and also rebounds at 6.3 which tells a story of her dedication.
2. Jazzy Davidson - USA⬆️3️⃣
The hype around Davidson is real after two brilliant performances in her last two games - including when she became the first USA player to hit the 40 mark for efficiency in the competition. Her dynamic all-around game has been great to watch and she's harvested a fabulous 16.0 points, 4.8 assists, 4.0 boards and 2.8 steals per outing.
1. Sienna Betts - USA ⏸️
Betts maintains the number one spot after meeting expectations with a string of classy performances so far for USA. She is one of only three players averaging a tournament double-double with an eye-catching 18.3 points and 10.3 boards per game. She is also this edition's leader in efficiency at 26.5, helped by 63% field goal shooting.
