Elliot Cadeau got Sweden back into Division A

    Who collected the MVP trophies in the most recent FIBA U18 EuroBasket, Division B tournaments and where are they now?

    MUNICH (Germany) - The FIBA Youth EuroBaskets every summer provide the world the opportunity to see many of the top young stars of tomorrow today.

    Going back through the lists of top players from each of the events you will see a number of names who have risen to star status on some of basketball's biggest stages.

    But every tournament has that one player who defines the tournament - the MVP, a standout who rises above the rest. Some MVPs turn into superstars in professional basketball while for others, the honor is one of the highlights of their still young career. But without a doubt, them taking home MVP honors puts their name on the map.

    So, what happened to the most recent winners?

    Here's a look at the last five winners , how they performed at FIBA U18 EuroBasket, Division B, and what they have down since.

    2024: Nikola Janichikj (MKD)

    Nikola Janichikj carried North Macedonia back to Division A

    Then: Janichikj led the tournament in scoring with 22.6 points while also picking up 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists as North Macedonia took the title.

    Now: Janichikj, whose name has also been seen as Nikola Janicic, played at two FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division A tournaments and was with North Macedonia's U18 team in 2023 as well. He spent last season in the United States at a college prep institution and competed at the 2025 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp.

    2023: Roberts Blums (LAT)

    Roberts Blums led Latvia to the title

    Then: Latvia finally returned to Division A after being relegated in 2019 thanks to Blums' outstanding performance, averaging 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

    Now: After playing the 2022-23 season with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in France, Blums played for VEF Riga in 2023-24, appearing also in the Basketball Champions League. The guard moved to the United States this past season and played for Davidson College.

    2022: Elliot Cadeau (SWE)

    Elliot Cadeau was a major concern for opponents all tournament

    Then: Cadeau helped Sweden end their long wait to return to Division A as the northern Europeans took the 2022 crown for their first appearance in the top flight since 2016. Cadeau dominated the competition with 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

    Now: Cadeau, who was born in the United States, played the last two seasons at the University of North Carolina and he debuted with the Swedish senior national team at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers in the February 2023 window.

    2019: Noam Dovrat (ISR)

    Noam Dovrat played a major role in Israel's title-winning run

    Then: Israel had spent the last two summers at the Division B of the U18 level but Dovrat made sure the country was back among the best in the continent. He collected 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists to lead the Israelis to the crown.

    Now: Dovrat helped Israel to the Semi-Finals of the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2022 and debuted in the Israeli senior national team for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers and also played in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers and EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers. The guard moved from Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion to Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem in 2021 and played two seasons in the Basketball Champions League.

    2018: Nathan Kuta (NED)

    Nathan Kuta was force in the paint for Netherlands

    Then: Netherlands had not played in Division A at the U18 level since 1990 and Kuta helped make history as the country claimed the Division B title in 2018 to return to the top flight. The big man collected 14.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

    Now: Kuta played in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers as well as the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers. At the club level, he played six seasons for Belgian top division clubs before spending 2024-25 with Orleans in the French second division.
